Pasyal Aral of Marikina Senior Citizens in Bataan

Federation of Senior Citizens Association of Marikina City Officers together with their  Barangay Officers conducted their Pasyal Aral Program in the Province of  Bataan last September 5, 2008.  The group headed by their OSCA Chairman Benedicto dela Cruz and FSCAP President Mr. Rodolfo de Guzman were delighted by the reception given to them by their counterparts headed by The Federation of Senior Citizens Bataan Chapter President  Godofredo Serrano. Ms. Marilyn Tigas, head of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office ( lead agency that directly  handles the concerns and activities of Senior Citizens ) gave an overview as to the benefits our senior citizens  are getting from the local government and their accomplishments. She mentioned that the building of the Senior Citizens located in the Capitol Compound was now accredited and entitled to 50% discount to its utility bills and the senior citizens discount in their medicines. The V. Sinio Funeral Services operated and manage by the FSCAP Abucay Chapter were also mentioned and visited later by the group after the orientation held at Bulwagan ng Bayan.

Lunch was served at Joyous Restaurant before going to Shrine of Valor in Mt. Samat, Diwa, Pilar. Congressman Albert S. Garcia of   the 2nd District of Bataan was very thankful to the officers and members of the federation for having choosen Bataan as their Pasyal Aral destination.



PAWIKAN FESTIVAL 2008!!!

Tourism growth and enhancement has always been the aim of the Bataan Tourism Council Foundation with the able support of the Provincial Government of Bataan. Among the activities of the foundation is the Pawikan Festival, being celebrated every end of November in Nagbalayong, Morong whose main focus is to awaken the awareness of people not only of Bataan but also elsewhere on the need to conserve and protect the dwindling number of sea turtles, known locally as pawikans. Coupled with this is the need for the preservation of their nesting grounds along the beautiful stretch of beaches in Bagac and Morong towns.

 

During the Pawikan Festival, we have lined up a number of activities to make the same interesting and memorable for the guests, the participants and the residents. A major highlight is the simultaneous releasing of the hatchlings to the sea on Sunday morning, November 30, at 8:00 AM at Pawikan Conservation Center in Nagbalayong, Morong.

 

Here are the activities that you can enjoy and celebrate in the Pawikan Conservation Center..

 

PAWIKAN FESTIVAL 2008 

CONTEST MECHANICS

 

STREET DANCE EXIBITION

 

§               The competition is open to all local government units (LGU) in the province of Bataan. The LGU must be represented either by different schools or barangay.

§               The group must be composed of thirty (30) or forty (40) dancers.

§               The entry must depict the theme of Pawikan Conservation.

§               Dance steps, music, costume, accessories should be in the context of the chosen theme or concept. Materials to be used should be either indigenous or recycled materials.

§               No motorized vehicle is allowed within the group during the parade or showdown.

§               Hand props like tambourines, maracas and percussion instruments like drums may be used and no limit as to the number of instrument. Canned / taped music is not allowed.

§               Parade dance will be executed on designated areas for only (three) 3 minutes.

§               Final showdown of the competing groups will be at the Morong Town Plaza with choreographic concept not deviating from the theme for eight (8) mins performance.

§               Scoring ratio is 40% for the Parade Dance and 60% for the showdown.

§               Organizer will be held responsible for their contingent.

§               Submission of entry will include the following:

    or his/her official representative together with the participants waiver.

 

3. Sponsors are allowed with their banners, contingents while on the     

    parade but are prohibited to chant while the contestant dancers are  

             performing.

 

§               Cash prizes are as follows:

 

First prize:                    P 40,000.00

Second Prize                   30,000.00

Third Prize                       20,000.00

 

BEACH VOLLEYBALL COMPETITION

 

§               Each team will be composed of two (2) males and one (1) female only, age ranging from 15-25 yrs old.

§               There will only be one (1) female substitute to be availed by each team

§               If in case more than 8 registered teams will compete, the organizer will group the teams in Group A and B in order to facilitate all the teams both during the elimination round.

§               Elimination will be through a knock-out system.

§               Default will be applied for teams who will not report to the official court 15 minutes before the game to be duly signed by the referee.

§               Registered teams will provide their own logistical needs.

§               Color coded shirts will serve as a uniform for each team. (see Attached color selection)

§               Organizers will provide the numbers for the players.

§               Entries must be duly certified by the city/municipal mayor or their official representative.

1.      Name of players including the substitute and official coach with their respective 1x1 ID picture.

2.      Submission of parent consent.

3.      The decision of the referee is final and executory.

4.      Deadline of submission of entries:

October 27-28, 2008

Color selection for the uniform:

            Upon the submission of each entry to the organizer a raffle will be done in order to determine the color for the athlete uniform.

  1. Red
  2. White
  3. Blue
  4. Green
  5. Orange
  6. Yellow
  7. Black
  8. Pink
  9. Violet

  

PADDLE PAINTING

 

§         The competition is open for elementary students both in public and private schools in the province of Bataan

§         The on the spot competition will have a duration of 2 hours only.

§         Each participants will be provided by a paddle and at the same time bring their own art materials.

§         Participants will use latex-water based paint.

§         Theme will evolve on the appreciation and conservation of nature and sea turtle.

§         Participants will undertake a 1 hour orientation before the start of the contest.

§         Contest will start at 9:00 AM, Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Pawikan Center, Nagbalayong, Morong , Bataan

§         Submission of entry will include the following:

SAND SCULPTURE

 

  • The competition is open for elementary students in the province of Bataan
  • The on the spot competition will have a duration of 1- 2 hours only.
  • Each entry must not be smaller than 4 meters by 4 meters in size.
  • Each participant will wear same color of shirts for every participating team that will serve as their group identity.
  • Participants will bring certification duly signed by their school principals.
  • Participants will provide their own logistical requirement.
  • Content will be done in pawikan conservation site at 9:00 AM, November 30, 2008.
  • A raffle will be drawn in order to determine the color assigned to each team.
  • Mechanic of the contest will be explain before the contest begin.

            October 26, 2008

In celebration of the second year anniversary of the Bataan Peninsula
Tour Guides the Provincial Tourism Office and Bataan Tourism Council
Foundation Inc. sponsored a two days tour and workshop to further
enhance their skills and upgrade their knowledge about Bataan.  The visit
started with the Aeta Community at Brgy. Bangkal, Abucay, Shrine of Valor
at Mt. Samat, Ciudad Acuzar and Pawikan Conservation Center.  It was great fun,
fruitful educational as prime destination of Bataan.



  




66TH CELEBRATION OF ARAW NG KAGITINGAN

THE 66th ARAW NG KAGITINGAN WAS CELEBRATED IN BATAAN FROM AS EARLY AS MARCH 30 UNTIL APRIL 11, 2008 WITH LOTS OF ACTIVITIES FOR BOTH YOUNG AND OLD.

 

THE MOUNTAIN BIKE CIRCUIT RACE, 3RD PADYAKAN SA BATAAN 2008, WAS HELD AT THE KARAGATAN BAY VIEW PEAKS IN MARIVELES LAST MARCH 30, 2008. MOUNTAIN BIKERS FROM THE PROVINCES OF RIZAL, PAMPANGA, PANGASINAN AND AS FAR AS THE BICOL REGION AND MANILA PARTICIPATED IN THIS RACE WHICH SERVED AS THIS YEAR’S KICK-OFF EVENT. THE ACTIVITY WAS SPEARHEADED BY THE BATAAN TRAILRIDERS AND ADVENTURER’S NETWORK (BaTAAN) IN COOPERATION WITH THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT, MUNICIPALITY OF MARIVELES AND TOTAL PHILIPPINES. IT AIMS TO ENCOURAGE FUN AND SAFE RIDING, FRIENDSHIP, AND PROMOTION OF THE PROVINCE AS A SPORTS TOURISM HAVEN FOR OUTDOOR ENTHUSIAST. CATEGORIES INCLUDE OPEN, AGE, INVITATIONAL/FUN, SINGLE SPEED, KIDS AND DOWNHILL, CATERING TO VARIOUS AGE BRACKETS FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN.

 

THE GALING BATAAN TRADE FAIR SHOWCASING THE BEST AMONG THE BEST PRODUCTS OF THE SME’S IN THE PROVINCE OPENED LAST APRIL 7 WITH MS. EMILY RELUCIO LOPEZ AND MS. CAMILLE VILLAR, DAUGHTER OF SENATOR AND CONGRESSWOMAN MANNY VILLAR. AMONG THE PRODUCTS SOLD HERE WERE ARMANDA’S MARINE PRODUCTS (PROCESSED FISH AND PASTE FRY), BAGAC FARMS (CASHEW AND BANANA CRACKERS), BEAKRIS HOUSE OF GOODIES (POLVORON AND TAMARIND BALLS) AND MARIVELES BAG MAKERS COOPERATIVE FOR THE MARIVELES BAGS.

 

SHOPPERS HAD THE CHANCE TO DROP BY AT THE LIFE SIZE DIORAMA LOCATED AT THE CAPITOL OVAL WHICH FEATURED SCENES TRANSPIRED DURING WORLD WAR II. SAID ARTPIECE WAS DONE BY THE BATAAN ARTIST SOCIETY, AN AUXILIARRY MEMBER OF SINING AT KULTURA NG LAHING BATAAN (SIKLAB).

 

IN THE VENING OF APRIL 7, THE PHILIPPINE MADRIGAL SINGERS SERENADED BATAEÑOS WITH THEIR BEAUTIFUL SONGS AND WONDERFUL VOICES ON A DINNER CONCERT MADZ IN BATAAN HELD AT THE CAPITOL GROUNDS.

 

LAST APRIL 8, EVEN OUR SENIOR CITIZENS DISPLAYED THEIR GRACE AND TALENT IN DANCING AS THEY PROVE THAT AGE DOESN’T MATTER IN THE FOLK DANCE EXHIBITION HELD AT PEOPLE’S CENTER. EACH MUNICIPALITY MOVED WITH EASE AND PASSION ON THE VARIOUS CULTURAL DANCES PERFORMED ON THIS DAY.

 

IN THE AFTERNOON OF APRIL 8, HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, FROM BOTH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS SHOWED HOW WELL THEY KNOW THE PROVINCE IN TERMS OF ITS HISTORY, CULTURE AND GEOGRAPHY IN THE TAGISAN DIWANG BATAAN HISTORY QUIZ.” YOUNG ONES IN THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL ALSO SHOWED THEIR UNITY AND COORDINATION AS THEY LET THE JUDGES HEAR THEIR PIECE “BATAAN” IN THE SABAYANG PAGBIGKAS HELD AFTER THE HISTORY QUIZ. MS. RONALDYN DABU OF BALSIK NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL WAS THIS YEAR’S CHAMPION IN THE HISTORY QUIZ WHILE MORONG ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WON IN THE SABAYANG PAGBIGKAS. BOTH ACTIVITIES AIMS TO INSTILL PATRIOTISM TO OUR YOUTH AND INCULCATE TO THEM HEROISM THAT THE PROVINCE PLAYED DURING THE WAR.

 

DURING APRIL 9, THE CEREMONY AT THE SHRINE OF VALOR IN MT. SAMAT PILAR WAS ATTENDED BY HER EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT GLORIA MACAPAGAL ARROYO, WITH OTHER DIGNITARIES, LOCAL OFFICIALS VETERANS AND GUESTS.

 

ON THE SAME DAY, THE PARADE OF FLOATS “PARADA NG KAGITINGAN” PARTICIPATED BY DIFFERENT MUNICIPALITIES, ORGANIZATIONS AND INSTITUTION WITHIN THE PROVINCE SIMULTANEOUSLY STARTED IN TWO POINTS: AT BRGY. ALAS-ASIN IN MARIVELES AND AT THE DINALUPIHAN TOWN PLAZA. UPON REACHING BALANGA, THE PARADE MERGED WITH THE THREE HUNDRED PARTICIPANTS OF THE FOOT PARADE WHICH WAS JOINED BY THE BATAAN AIRSOFT TACTICAL SQUAD, BATAAN HEROES COLLEGE, MEMBERS OF PHILIPPINE NURSES ASSOCIATION, GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES, BOY SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES AND BPSU NURSING STUDENTS.

 

EACH MUNICIPALITY WORKED REALLY HARD IN MAKING THEIR FLOATS A REPLICA OF WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN THE BATTLE OF BATAAN AS IT AIMS TO DEPICT THE HEROISM OF FILIPINOS DURING THE WAR. RE-ENACTMENT OF WHAT TRANSPIRED IN THE DELAYING TACTIC WAR PLAN ORANGE 3 TILL THE DEATH MARCH PERIOD WAS SHOWN DURING THE PARANGAL SA MGA BAYANI, A TRIBUTE TO THE HEROISM OF BATAAN WAR VETERANS. IT TOUCHED THE HEARTS OF THE SPECTATORS AND GUESTS, ESPECIALLY THE VETERANS WHO WERE TEARY EYED AS THEY REMINISCE THE MOMENTS OF HARDSHIPS AND SACRIFICES AS THEY FOUGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY AGAINTS INVADING FORCES.

 

THE CEREMONY ENDED WITH A GRAND FIREWORKS DISPLAY AT THE CAPITOL GROUNDS.
