BATAAN POLYTECHNIC STATE COLLEGE- ABUCAY CAMPUS
(Abucay, Bataan)
As
they say: “A way through a tourist’s heart is thru his stomach”, and
this is where AGRI-TOURISM falls for the non-farming tourists in
Bataan.
The BATAAN PENINSULA STATE
UNIVERSITY (BPSU) in Abucay is an Agricultural School in the province.
It envisions being the center of excellence in the fields of
Agriculture and Education. For the past several years, portions of the
sprawling school campus have been used for broiler production, raising
of pigs, cows, goats and ducks; production of vegetables and fruits
such as eggplants, ampalaya, baguio beans, pineapples, bananas,
coconuts and papayas.
The usual tour
in BPSU will start with a short briefing at the Training Center. A
guided tour will follow on the different plantations of Rambutan,
Mangoes, Calamansi, Pineapple, Coffee, Lanzones, and Pomelo. If the
tourists will come during the harvesting season, they will get a chance
to harvest the fruits and purchase the different farm products on a
farm gate price.
Guests could also go
to the poultry houses where tourists could feed the Swine, Goats,
Cattles, and Sheeps. Broiler Houses are also part of the tour where
they could get a chance to harvest chicken eggs. So, for those who
wants to experience and increase their desire for peace and tranquility
of the countryside, the BPSU in Abucay is surely an alternative weekend
holiday option for kids, families and groups. |
