DENGUE FEVER:

Three  cases of dengue fever were admitted at the sentinel sites for the 29th morbidity week. The cases are from Limay, Morong and Pilar. A total of one hundred twenty six cases of dengue fever were admitted at the different sentinel sites from January 1 to July 19, 2008. This number of admission is 157% higher compared to the same period last year (49 cases). Ages of cases ranged from 3mos to 59 years old with a median of 19 and mode of 15. Fifty one percent of the cases were male. There were three fatalities from Dinalupihan, Limay and Mariveles (CFR- 3.9%).

  The municipality with the most number of cases is Dinalupihan with 21 cases (28%) followed by Limay with 17 cases (22%). No clustering of cases and fatality was reported for this week.

  The Provincial Health Office strongly recommends environmental clean up, search and destroy and health education activities to prevent the increase of dengue cases.
