DENGUE FEVER:

One case of dengue fever from the municipality of Limay was  admitted at the sentinel site for the 28th morbidity week.  A total of one hundred twenty three cases of dengue fever were admitted at the different sentinel sites from January 1 to July 12, 2008. This number of admission is 151% higher compared to the same period last year (49 cases). Ages of cases ranged from 3mos to 59 years old with a median of 19 and mode of 15. Fifty four percent of the cases were male.  

  The municipality with the most number of cases is Limay with 34 cases (28%) followed by Dinalupihan with 31 cases (25%). No clustering of cases was noted. A total of five fatalities were reported for this year (CFR-4%). These fatalities were from the municipalities of Dinalupihan, Limay (3) and Mariveles.

  The Provincial Health Office strongly recommends environmental clean up, search and destroy and health education activities to prevent the increase of dengue cases.
