American Revolution

"The Fight for Independence"

(1775-1783)

The research for Barlow participation in the Revolutionary War hasn't been explored yet; but the likelihood is that members of the family were serving at that time just as so many have done in every major conflict in which this nation has been engaged throughout its history. It is in recognition of and gratitude for their service that the names in this Military Service section are presented; and we hope to record as many more as possible.

The Barlow brothers listed on this page are the sons of the John Barlow (1784/95-18 ) of VA or NC lineage.

From DNA testing, we've learned that our own William Henry Barlow (Barlar) lineage and the John Barlow lineage are closely related and that both family lines descend from the Isle of Wight, Virginia Barlow lineage.

Census and military records for Charles P. Barlow and John S. Barlow (also recorded as Barler) have been found and will be available in the Records and Documents section of this website. Individual pages containing additional information about each of them may also be found in the John Barlow family tree section.

In the Military Family:

Born in Tennessee, John S. Barlow is the great-grandfather of Navy veteran, Larry Booth Barlar.
