The Counseling Center is located on the first floor of the building. The counseling area consists of an office for each counselor and a reading and research area where students may find various materials such as college catalogues, vocational information, SAT and ACT registration materials, and financial aid materials. Students may use the computers in the library to conduct a college search. Appointments to see the counselors may be made at the office during lunch periods, study halls, and before or after school. Students are required to sign in and out with their counselor. Parents are also encouraged to meet with their child’s counselor and can arrange an appointment by calling 893-7942. Voice mail is available after school hours.
Our Mission
The Counseling Program is designed to assist students with their academic, social and emotional development. This function can best be effected by the combined efforts of the administration, faculty, special service personnel, parents and the students themselves.
The counseling role encompasses the total school population and program. This role becomes a specific one since counselors are collating and interpreting information about individual students for the student, parents, faculty and the administration. The highest obligation is to recognize the worth and dignity of each student and to provide an education which will lead to his/her full development. Counselors have the responsibility to open horizons and point out opportunities for students. In order to help individual students recognize their own worth and thus be in a better position to make decisions and to assume responsibility for their lives, the Counseling Center places a premium on knowing individual students. |
