Enrollment information for the 2009-2010 school year:

We still have a small handful of spots available in the 7-8 program.   If you are interested -get that application in as soon as possible!  We are currently full in the 9-12 program and are accepting applications for our waiting list.

 
Avalon is a free public school open to all students who reside in Minnesota.  We provide transportation through the Metro Transit system.  If students live more than 2 miles from the school we provide them with bus passes for the MTC.

  • Avalon is a free, public, charter school sponsored by Hamline University.  This is our eighth year in operation.  Enrollment is open to any seventh-twelfth grade student living in Minnesota.

Application Process

  • A prospective student visits the school with a parent/ guardian for a tour or during an open house.  We try to schedule tours on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays during the school day.  Please contact Gretchen at 651.649.5495 ext. 204 or gretchen@avalonschool.org in order to schedule a tour.   
  • 2009-2010 Open House Schedule:  Tuesday, November 10, at 7pm; Tuesday, January 12, at 7pm; Saturday, January 30, at 10:30am; Thursday, February 18, at 7pm; Saturday, March 13, at 10:30am; Tuesday, April 13, at 7pm.
  • Submit Avalon Application (PDF: 2 pages) , signed by parent or guardian. Application can be mailed, emailed, or faxed to the school.
  • The student spends a day at Avalon "shadowing" a current student. 
    • High School Prospective Students
      • Spend one full school day at Avalon.
      • Complete Documentation of Time & Learning Form and Project Proposal (Word: 2 pages) during visit.
      • Write a reflective essay about your experience
    • Middle School Prospective Students
      • Spend a half day (9 am - 11:50 am) at Avalon.
      • Complete activities assigned by middle school staff on day of visit.
  • A final enrollment meeting is scheduled to complete necessary paperwork and share expectations.
