Lara graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2005, with a Bachelors degree in Spanish and in Studio Arts. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Teaching at Hamline University. For the last three years she has been working as an Educational Assistant. Lara has worked with students in the Autism program at Arlington High School, and more recently at Avalon School. This year she is working as a Special Education Instructor at Avalon.

Lara's interests, however, are not limited to building a career in education. She also enjoys oil painting, biking, practicing yoga, camping, traveling, studying the tarot, and reading. She spends as much time as she can with the people she loves; her family, friends, boyfriend, and her very sassy cat, Sputnik. Lara loves to learn new things, and sometimes even wishes she could be a student (at Avalon) and spend all day working on projects she is interested in. Lara feels very lucky to be a part a school like Avalon.
