Fire: Energy & Action Aries, Leo, Sagittarius Fire signs experience life primarily through action, earth signs through endurance and stability, air signs through the intellect, and water signs through the emotions. In private classes, we look at the student's chart and note which elements are strong, and which are weak. For example, if a person lacks fire in his chart, we emphasize postures related to Aries, Sagittarius, or Leo. Fire is yang, primary. It symbolizes life, the force of the spirit, of creative expression. It is dynamic, spontaneous, action-oriented, the thrust that impels us, the will to be. If you've ever seen a forest fire or watched TV coverage of one, you were surely struck by its sheer power, its insatiable hunger to consume, and its utter disregard for everything in its path. Intoxicated with its own ubiquity, it sweeps across the earth with the swiftness of thought and, at times, seems to be possessed of consciousness. By the same token, there is nothing more comforting than a fireplace when you come in out of the cold, a bowl of hot soup when you don't feel up to par, or steaming coffee in the morning. These two extremes typify fire signs. Fire sign people tend to be aggressive, quick tempered, and have definite opinions about most everything. They're leaders who embrace experience, relish it, revel in it. For them, life is high drama that involves sweeping passions and big themes. They're the Scarlet O'Haras of the zodiac, initiators and creators, the life of any party. Their enthusiasm and zeal are always infectious. They think on their feet, make snap decisions straight from the gut, and are rarely afraid to take risks.
