When we reflect on our own reading, we realize that we read for different purposes. We read for amusement, to obtain information, and to expand our learning lives. Reading different genres help us learn a culture, a language, explore content, know the world and find a way to critique it too. Parents can captivate their child’s interest and imagination by reading folk stories, humor, mysteries, fantasy and nonfiction. This cherishes our hearts, minds and intellect. Reading together translates into lifelong love for reading. Once children enjoy the magic of words and the fascination for stories there is no stopping to the joys of reading.
