About the library

Elementary School Library Media Center

Our mission of the ASB Library is to inspire and support its users towards creative and intellectual achievement while ethically learning the value of information and its acquisition.

ASB Library Hours
Library Hours: 7:40am to 4:30 pm on Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays, except during vacations and extended weekends.

Library Program

The elementary students come once in a six-day-cycle to the library. The library program is integrated into their Units of Inquiry. The engagements in the library media center are woven around their PYP units and focuses on literature and information literacy. Students become familiar with the organization of the library and tools to access, and acquire and use information creatively.

ASB Library Collection
With the elementary and secondary libraries combined, the ASB Library has a collection of over 30,000 books in print and audio, and DVDs. Within these titles there is a wide collection from picture books to foreign language, nonfiction to graphic novels, and teacher resources. The ASB Library also subscribes to various periodicals, journals, magazines, and a substantial number of electronic databases.

ASB Library Services and Facilities

A quiet, comfortable environment is provided for reading and study in both the elementary school and the secondary school libraries. A reading area for newspapers, journals and magazines is located near the circulation desk. Both libraries host author visits, sponsors book fairs, offer workshops and classes for parents, teachers, and students. Library personnel are available to help you locate information, direct you to materials, and assist you in effective information acquisition.

ASB Library Patrons

Library resources are primarily for the ASB community. You may check out library material by identifying either the library patron number assigned to you or your full name. Guests may use library material within the library premises. All patrons, including adults and students are reminded that the ASB library is generally used for study, research, flex classes and at times even as a meeting space.

ASB Library Volunteers
Volunteers are welcome at the ASB Library. Parents and students interested in volunteering should contact the librarian.
