My recent research has uncovered evidence of a previous vessel, a brig of 217 tons, also called the Stirlingshire, and also associated with William Abercrombie Esq., coming from Calcutta in 1836 to Launceston, before sailing to Sydney, then to Port Phillip, back to Georgetown (and maybe Launceston), before sailing to New Zealand in late 1836, returning to Sydney in early 1837.
