Asset Inventory

Ever seen the underside of a bridge from an airplane? Not many people have. Can you tell the difference between a stop sign and a yield sign from the air? Not likely. This is why aerial imagery and aerial LiDAR platforms are not the most reliable systems in asset inventory. While both of these options are great when collecting large areas, they fall short where bridge heights, overhead wires, or sign identification is necessary.

However, the combination of mobile LiDAR and mobile imaging systems, such as our LYNX mobile mapper, is excellent for these inventories. At posted speed limits, including true highway speeds, ADS can collect and identify assets without leaving the vehicle. Collection is done without disturbing the public, closing roads, or placing lives at risk, which is currently done with traditional survey and GPS data collection methods. Data is processed as fast as it is collected and then software is run to automatically extract assets. Once complete, the processing is checked and missed assets are verified and collected manually, along with metadata, for inclusion into the asset management system.

At ADS, we believe there is no easier, safer or faster way to collect street level asset data.
