Writer, Creative Writing Teacher and Comic Performer
Background:
I've been writing for over 20 years. I've also been teaching creative writing workshops in schools, initially in South Australia and since 1996 in the ACT and NSW.
A particular interest is running 'Writing On The Wild Side' workshops which involve taking students into Botanic Gardens and National Parks etc and using the natural world as inspiration. I have a particular passion for poetry and together with Nicola Bowery run PoetryAlive workshops (day, weekend or longer: http://www.poetryalive.com.au).
Over the last two years I've been leading my 'Confident Voice' workshops at various Writers' Centres.
As a comic performer and satirist I've written and performed six one-man shows, the most recent of which 'Away With The Birds' I hope to tour nationally.
I was commissioned by the Regional Production Fund to write and perform two series of quirky country tales for ABC RN: 'Stories From The Edge Of The Forest' and 'Tales Of A Tree Changer'.
Thanks to my comic performance experience, I believe I bring a particular energy to my creative writing workshops and find humour a useful teaching tool. I love taking workshops for any age and stage and am a skilled editor. Area / Skills:
