| A. Describe and, if possible, name the informing political philosophy of this Utopia (for example, Democracy, Monarchy, etc.) It is a Democracy. The have an elected president and a representative for each of the major cities. (A major city is considered at least 500 people, if not more.) If an area is full of smaller cities, they may combine in order to have enough people. C. Describe the level of participation (do you do them) and how they are accomplished for the following governmental activities: i. Choosing/removing leaders A general election. For representatives, the people in each city vote, for president, everyone on the planet votes. ii. Creating/changing laws First it goes through the representatives, then the president. D. What are the “checks” on governmental power, if any? A law has to have a majority with the representatives in order to get to the president, the presidents has to put a law he wants through the representatives and the people need at least 40,000 signatures in order to get a law to the next stage. E. How does this government support or suppress the expression of individual ideas? Pretty free, although there are a few laws that prohibit things like racial outbursts, a little like the laws the U.S.A. had back in the 21st century, although it is much more lenient. If people feel they know something that others need to know, they are allowed to get it out there, with in some limits. F. What are the methods and means of law enforcement and military operations (both peace keeping and war making): 1. At the local level? Local police men, who patrol their designated area. 2. At the national level? Judges and juries and an army/space navy. 3. At the international (or global) level? A space navy consisting of fighter ships, large capital ships, ground troops, intelligence agents, etc, etc. Mostly used to guard the export items. G. What type, if any, of diplomacy (working with other countries without violence) will this Utopia use? Not much. We pretty much set the rules and the other worlds listen because we have exports that they want, so we make the rules. H. What type, if any, currency will this Utopia use? Credits, or coins. They are generally round, although square ones are used in certain cases. They have the seal of Venus stamped on one side and an image of the First City stamped on the other. They can be used at any other world that will accept them, and are worth different things depending on the size, weight, and color. |
