Culture, Social Customs, and Family Structure Of Venus

A. Education of citizens is an important aspect in most civilizations.
How will this Utopia respond to the following issues:

1. Who will have access to education and how will they access it?
Everyone who passes the test receives an education. The classes differ depending upon your major.
2. What will be taught and how will it be taught?
All subjects. It started with just history, the arts, and things like law, but as the society advanced, more professors where accepted in order to expand the subjects they could cover.
3. What is the value placed on the role of Educators?
A huge one. They, along with artists, musicians, sculptors, and the like, where placed at the top of the social pyramid. To be an educator was to command everyones attention, to be given the highest regard.
B. How will this Utopia address the following issues regarding religion?
i. State sanctioned religion (one official religion) vs. multiple religious traditions
Everyone can have their own religion. There are various churches scattered through out the utopia, and if you can't find one that belongs to your religion, you may practice out of your home as long as you don't try to convert other people.
ii. If a state sanctioned religion, what level of observance
will be required? What will enforcement procedures entail?
As long as you don't try to convert others, you can do almost anything you want regarding religion. If some one chooses to convert and can prove it was their idea alone, it will be allowed.
C. Arts and Entertainment:
Most great societies encourage the flourishing of the full range of human talents. (Note: do not address censorship in this section; see the Government section) How will this Utopia accommodate the following activities:
1. Literature (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, etc.)
Greatly encouraged to help expand your imagination. Only discouraged when someone starts to believe something is real when it's not, or they are putting off their duties to read.
2. Fine arts (painting, sculpture, drawing, acting, dance, etc.)
Encouraged, although it takes a lot longer to become a professional. Unless you are advanced in the subject, or a prodigy of some sort, you must have a Ph.D from collage in order to do something professionally.
3. Music (instrumental - classic, instrumental - contemporary,
vocal, etc.)
Encouraged, although it takes a lot longer to become a professional. Unless you are advanced in the subject, or a prodigy of some sort, you must have a Ph.D from collage in order to do something professionally.
4. Film (documentary, animation, fiction, etc.)
Encouraged, although technology has advanced to the 3-D stage, so many of it is not required as it used to be. Although actors, directors, and writers are still in huge demand.
5. Sports
All sports are played. Some are just recreational but many are played professionally, although the athletes are not payed the outrageous sum they were payed back in the early 21st century.
D. Food: Will this Utopia have a national dish? What will be
the prevailing cultural attitude toward food? (For example,
necessary evil or daily joy?)
My utopia doesn't have a national dish. Everyone has different tastes, so everyone has a different dish that they prefer. All types of dishes are welcomed, from anywhere. For example, there are Mexican dishes, Italian dishes, etc, etc. Some people love to cook, others avoid it at all costs. When you are at home you can cook your own meal, but the schools provide lunch and sometimes breakfast depending on the individual.
E. How has your Utopia dealt with the following issues of social customs:
1. New vs. Old Holidays
No holidays are considered National, so any one can celebrate their own holidays. You are not allowed time off from school for these holidays. It is not uncommon to walk down a street after school and see several families celebrating one holiday or another.
2. Social Classes (Are different groups of people viewed differently?)
Educators and people who take up a career in the arts are considered the top. Everyone else is lumped together and ranked equally.
3. Notoriety, Celebrity, and Respect
Celebrities are not what they used to be considered as. Anyone can be a celebrity depending on their individual successes and failures. Everyone is to be respected, from the youngest student to the oldest teacher, and respected equally.
4. Life goals, Hopes, and Dreams
Everyone is allowed their own hopes and dreams. If you set a goal in life, everyone around you will try to help you to achieve it. No one is allowed to make fun of someone who has a specific hope or dream, and if they do, they get a warning and if they do it again, then they will be expelled from the school system, and then the planet.
F. How are families structured in your Utopia? (Is there a concept of marriage? How do children interact with their elders?)
Anyone can marry anyone else they want. This is to help encourage people to marry for love, and not because of a responsibility. Children stay with their parents, but if they don't pass the test they are ask to either school their children at home or to leave the utopia.
G. How do men and women relate to one another?
They interact on a daily basis, and work together often. There is no restriction on how they can interact.
