| A. How is your Utopia a reaction to the utopia that you read about in your independent novel? I read The Giver. I didn't like what the government was doing by hiding information and genetically engineering people. As a result of seeing how terrible the society in The Giver was I decided to create a utopia that in no way was centered around hidden information. B. What historical precedents (or from other works of fiction) have influenced your Utopian ideas? I have seen many real life utopias fail because of the extreme differences among people. As a result I decided to split people up into domes. C. How is your Utopia a reaction to the society that you are living in? I love our society and so I tried to keep some things in my utopia similar to the society I live in. Of course I did change some things to make my utopia more utopian. |
