Risker Island's Unique Features

A. Questions about daily life in your utopia:

1. How does your utopia deal with birth and death?

This depends on the religion of the citizen. For example, the religion, Halsoony, would celebrate the death of a family member. Generally speaking though, a birth or a death on Risker Island is a good thing. Usually there is a "hapending" that is held for every death, which is a proper burial, *freezing or cremation and a time when everyone who cares about that person gets to speak their last words to him or her. There are also gifts that are given to the person that has died, buried with them, frozen with them or burned with them. If it is a cremination it is an option for the ashes of the remains to be thrown into the nature. People usually throw the ashes into the ocean or off the top of a mountain. This is done because it is believed that the soul should be free after a death to roam the world and push the limits of life. As for a birth there is a big feast called the "efilwen" (only if the child is not the fifth or up member of the household. Refer to Industry, Agriculture, and Geography to read the outcome of this kind of situation). At this feast, gifts are given to the newborn.

*freezing - When the body of someone dead is frozen using cold liquids and chemicals. This allows the body, face, and even facial features to stay visible after burial.

2. What is beautiful in the eyes of your citizens?

Since all citizen of Risker Island enjoy danger, the beauty in the eyes of Risker Island's citizens is anything that has to do with danger.

3. What is the safeguard on corruption in your society?

On Risker Island there isn’t really a safeguard on corruption of the society other than its citizens. The survival of Risker Island is in the hands of its citizens. It is believed that if one wants something enough then they can make it happen by working hard and having confidence. This means that if the citizens of Risker Island enjoy and like Risker Island enough then they will keep it from corrupting, being the safeguards of the society. If they don't like it enough to keep it alive then it is believed that it shouldn't be alive and the failure is the right consequence.

4. How does your utopia make human nature (the flaws, sins, and evil that inevitably arise in any society)?

Since human nature is inevitable, Risker Island has no choice to stop it from invading Risker Island. The best that Risker Island can do is to teach the citizens that if they want to keep living on Risker Island then they have to avoid any decisions that are bad for the society. This thought has to be exposed to the citizens just as they start their schooling when they can handle such an extended and complex thought. Hopefully with time as they grow into a teenager and eventually into an adult, this thought would be almost engraved into their minds. If there are still those that make any moves to crash Risker Island, they will hopefully be found earlier as they start to develop these "evil" thoughts and gain power so that they can be sent off of Risker Island.

B. What are the "what if" questions and answers that could break a society?

What if there is a revolution on Risker Island?

  • Then it is believed that those that want Risker Island to survive enough will stop the revolution in time to save Risker Island and can solve the problem that had caused the revolution in the first place.
.

What if a terrible disease hits Risker Island, killing all the citizens?

  • A plan has been set for any emergencies where the countries who Risker Island have contact with will help to re-build it by getting rid of whatever killed all the citizens of Risker Island and letting people to take the test to enter Risker Island to rebuild Risker Island.

What if someone tries to become a dictator of Risker Island?

  • The rest of the citizens of Risker Island are expected to follow their thoughts about the situation. If they want to become a dictatorship then they can. If they don't then they should bring that one person who wants to be the dictator of Risker Island down and send them out of Risker Island.

C. What is the qualification guide for entering (or staying) in your utopia?

One must get 100% on the country test. This test seeks to see whether one is fit for the general attitude and thoughts of Risker Island. It is believed that if one is not fit for Risker Island then they won't even enjoy their time here so it is the right thing to do to turn down those that do not score 100% on the test (a sample of the test can be found on the home page). The test changes every year, there are no fees to take the test, one can only take the test once a year, and once one is accepted they have a choice to leave Risker Island at any time. Those that have been kicked out of Risker Island are not allowed to come back to Risker Island. Since they had to leave it means that they are not fit for Risker Island and how it works.

E. What is your islands' general thought about the world?

Risker Island's main thought about the world is that it is a dangerous place and instead of living in fear for one's entire life, one should adapt to their environments and make the most out of it. This is why every citizens of Risker Island is trained to protect, fight, survive and most importantly of all ENJOY DANGER!!!
