Lex's Utopia‎ > ‎

Lex's Industry, Agricultre, and Geography

A. What is the geography of this utopian place? What are the major geographical features (bodies of water, mountains, canyons, etc.)? What does this place look like?
This place is very close to where present day Toronto is. The great lakes don't exist anymore and there are no mountains either. It is very barren with little food. It looks like a black wasteland.

B. What natural resources, if any, are available? How will they be used?
At the begining of the LTC few natural resources are available. They will be used sparingly and what can be recycled will be. As time goes on, more resources are available but the same philosophy is used.

C. Is the climate suitable for agriculture? If so, what crops will be cultivated? Please make reference to population statistics for feasibility calculation.

It is not suitable for farmland at the beginning because it is a barren place from the fire. As time goes on the soil grows more fertile. By the time the population reaches 5,000 farming is just coming into the society. No chemicals are used on the farms. After farming is down to an art (about 50 years after the fire), it is the main industry in the LTC.

D. How are jobs determined? What percentage of the workforce is dedicated to the survival and growth of the Utopia?

Jobs are determined by the people. If a job is needed someone will step up and take it. If to many people are doing one job, the government will randomly choose someone who has to find a different occupation. All of the people are dedicated to the survival of the LTC. If you are not dedicated to it, you are thrown out.

E. Is this Utopia notable for any particular crop (e.g. silk, kiwi fruit) or industry (e.g. postage stamps, fine furniture)?
The LTC is known for its pelupples. The flavor is a mix between a peach, a plum, and an apple. It is orange, about 3 inches in diameter, and has a big seed in the middle.

F. What, if anything, is imported? From whom?
Nothing is imported at the beginning of the society because there was nothing to import. As time went on and new societies were being formed the LTC still didn't import things because they wanted to be completely self sufficient.

G. What, if anything, is exported? To whom?
Nothing is exported at the beginning of the society because there was no one to export things to. Once again when new societies were being formed the LTC did not export things to them because they could not spare any resources.
