A. Describe and, if possible, name the informing political philosophy of this Utopia (for example, Democracy, Monarchy, etc.)
The government in the LTC is a Lexocracy (democracy-dem+lex). All citizens vote for most things unless immediate action is necessary. Then the chairman would make the decision. The chairman is in power until the people vote him out of power or he passes on. When someone does something that could get them thrown out of the LTC, the square table votes on it. The square table is like the congress today. It has 16 members in it. C. Describe the level of participation (do you do them) and how they are accomplished for the following governmental activities: i. Choosing/removing leaders The people vote on who is going to be the chairman and the vote him out of office if they want a new leader. If the chairman doesn't leave power, he will be removed by force and thrown out of the LTC.
The 7 commandments can't be changed. Laws and punishments can be changed by a simple majority vote. Everyone votes and the chairman's vote along the the votes of the square table are worth nothing more than anyone elses vote.
D. What are the “checks” on governmental power, if any? If a chairman seems to be taking advantage of the people or if he violated a commandment than he will be removed immediately. While a new chairman is being decided the square table is in power. The same thing goes for a member of the square table.
E. How does this government support or suppress the expression of individual ideas? Any idea that an individual has regarding the whole society would go to the square table. A vote will only be given to the whole society if someone on the square table votes for it. If no one votes for it the idea is just an idea. Ideas regarding just a few people are encouraged. Change is a good thing.
F. What are the methods and means of law enforcement and military operations (both peace keeping and war making): The police officers are concerned about people who might violate one of the 7 commandments or a law. They arrest people who disobay a commandment. The LTC is a peacfeul society but is concerned about being attacked. Because it is a utopia a lot of people want to get in. If they are turned back they can get mad and start a riot that could lead to an attack.
3. At the international (or global) level? The LTC is concerned about another big fire happening and have military all around the world who can immediatly help those in need. Although the LTC is self sufficient, it helps out other countries with things like a chemical leak or a tornado. G. What type, if any, of diplomacy (working with other countries without violence) will this Utopia use? The LTC does not work with other countries. It does not want to depend on someone else.
H. What type, if any, currency will this Utopia use? Because of where the main base is, the LTC uses Canadian money. Fragments were found around on the ground after the fire. It is easier to use money that already existed than make your own so that is what the LTC did. People make money by working hard and completing your tasks. The money is enough to buy food and necessities but not so much you have excess.
