Katy(superk54)'s Government

A. Describe and, if possible, name the informing political philosophy
of this Utopia (for example, Democracy, Monarchy, etc.)

Pascopolis' government is a kind of democracy, much like the one in the United States.  However, instead of having a president, Pascopolis elects a committee of people who come up with ideas together, and present them to the people to vote.

C. Describe the level of participation (do you do them) and how they are accomplished for the following governmental
activities:
i. Choosing/removing leaders

Members of the Committee are elected.  They serve a term of four years, and are limited to three terms.

ii. Creating/changing laws

Members of the Committee together come up with laws, and present them to the people to vote upon.

D. What are the “checks” on governmental power, if any?

There is a part of the Committee known as the Observation Committee.  Their job is to keep an eye on everyone in the society, and make sure that they are doing what they are supposed to be doing and arehelping Pascopolis flourish.  They also watch the Committee, to make sure they are doing what is best for Pascopolis.

E. How does this government support or suppress the expression of
individual ideas?

People are allowed and encouraged to give their own ideas.  If it is a major idea that they really want to be changed in the society, they may write it on paper and submit it to the Committee or just share it with other people.

F. What are the methods and means of law enforcement and military operations (both peace keeping and war making):
1. At the local level? At the national level? At the international (or global) level?

People are encouraged to have a job that has to do with their Private Studies, which mainly is something that the person is good at doing and enjoys doing.  Most people do not enjoy enforcing laws or being in the military, so military and law enforcement positions are strictly voluntary, unless something major happens (such as war).  Law enforcement on the local level includes police, who's responsibilities include protecting the people, makig sure the people are keeping the laws, and enforcing the laws. Enforcements for the breaking of small laws (such as lying, stealing) include apologizing to the person the 'crime' affected, confessing to the Committee, and doing whatever possible to fix the mistake.  Children will also follow these same rules.  For a list of the Nine Commandments, click here.  If a person breaks the commandment, "Thou shalt not kill" or is guilty of extreme treason, they will suffer the death penalty.  Two breakings of the commandments, "Thou shalt not discriminate others," "Thou shalt not be violent or abusive," or "Thou shalt do thy job well" will result in being kicked out of Pascopolis.

G. What type, if any, of diplomacy (working with other countries without violence) will this Utopia use?

Pascopolis does not interact much with countries outside their own.

H. What type, if any, currency will this Utopia use?

Pascopolis will use a currency similar to that in the United States: simple bills and coins.
