Emily's Utopia‎ > ‎

Emily's Culture, Social customs, and Family Structure

A. Education of citizens is an important aspect in most civilizations.
How will this Utopia respond to the following issues:

1. Who will have access to education and how will they access it?
Everyone will have access to education. The specific grade levels are k-12. Grades 1-9 are required at certian ages but if one needs a refresher when they are older they are welcomed into any open class.

2. What will be taught and how will it be taught?
All of the basics (social studies, math, science, and language arts) are taught daily. Math is the only subject that is not required in grades 7-9 because it is not that interesting and many people will not need it in later life. Within the span of ones school year they must learn how to speak two languages at least, one of them being english. Also, there are electives. At first, whatever could be taught was but after the first five years there are many things to chose from. Any one who has enough skill and learning may also start a class of there desire. These will be taught by basic knowlege of the people. Most classes will be taught hands on so that everyone is able to do them. Althought if ones desire is to start a class a different way they are given the chance to try that new class.

3. What is the value placed on the role of Educators?
All of the educators on Hatikva know that they have the gift of teaching. The value that they have upon their shoulders is great. It is said on Hatikva that the greatest job role is a teacher, for they have been blessed with that gift and are able to pass on what they know to eager listeners.

B. How will this Utopia address the following issues regarding religion?
i. State sanctioned religion (one official religion) vs. multiple religious traditions
There is no specific religion in Hatikva. Since it is for anyone who wants to be there all religions are welcome.

C. Arts and Entertainment:
Most great societies encourage the flourishing of the full range of human talents. (Note: do not address censorship in this section; see the Government section) How will this Utopia accommodate the following activities:
1. Literature (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, etc.), Fine arts (painting, sculpture, drawing, acting, dance, etc.), Music (instrumental - classic, instrumental - contemporary, vocal, etc.), Film (documentary, animation, fiction, etc.), Sports.
These activities will be run by people who are good in that area of work. Literature will probably only be taught at the schools. Other then the literature these types of things can be started by anyone for anyone and can be preformed when ever as long as it does not cause trouble with the other people or the government.

2. Value placed on the role of Artists and Athletes
There really isn't much put on the shoulders of artists or athletes. They may be asked to teach a class or some thing if they are very good at what they do.

D. Food: Will this Utopia have a national dish? What will be
the prevailing cultural attitude toward food? (For example,
necessary evil or daily joy?)
Everyone will get 4 servings per day. If they want less they can have less but they cannot have more. Hatikva will not have a national dish because there are so many religions it would be hard to choose and people don't really care about what it is just as long as they get it.

E. How has your Utopia dealt with the following isues of social customs:
1. New vs. Old Holidays
Mostly all old holidays of all religions will be the same but with some new traditions thrown in. There will also be no presidents day since Hatikva doesn't go by the same ruling as America. The main thing that will start this utopia is new found traditions that can last forever in Hatikva's history. And last, if any new holidays would like to be started they are welcome as long as they are appropriate and possible for this utopia.

2. Social Classes (Are different groups of people viewed differently?
As has been said before, there is no treaing people differently for there groups or race.

3. Notoriety, Celebrity, and Respect
In Hatikva all will be respected. No one is better than anyone else they just have more talent, this does not make them powerful. There will be no celebrities becuase everyone is considered equal and they are just people who have talent that will let them be stars but if one person is a celebriy all the people are.

4. Life goals, Hopes, and Dreams
One life goal is for hatikva to become at least a little like America in the technical ways. Another is, of course, that there is no rebelion or war started in Hatikva. Other then these two things there really isn't much but to keep the utopia going strong and running well.

F. How are families structured in your Utopia? (Is there a concept of marriage? How do children interact with their elders?)
There is a concept of marriage. Anyone can marry anyone but they must be truely happy because they can no divorse. Also, all must respect their elders and fulfill the needs of them if they are unable to do so.
