A. How is your Utopia a reaction to the utopia that you read about in your independent novel?
- In my Utopia, everyone is equal. In the book I read, The Giver, everyone was equal. Also, the children put in volenteer hours to find out what their jobs were. In my Utopia, the do pretty much the same thing, just the tutors decide where they go, not the Council of Elders.
B. What historical precedents (or from other works of fiction) have influenced your Utopian ideas?
- In 6th grade I read Lord of the Flies. It influenced me to make this society on an island where you had to work to survive. Another book, Robinson Curruso, Influenced me with his ability to function so well on the island with only the core elements.
C. How is your Utopia a reaction to the society that you are living in?
- It is a reaction because our society strives to be kind and caring to eachother. My Utopia is the result of what would happen if we were kind and caring to eachother.
