Dane's Utopia‎ > ‎

Dane's Industry, Agriculture, and Geography

A. What is the geography of this utopian place? What are the major geographical features (bodies of water, mountains, canyons, etc.)? What does this place look like?
  •  The Utopian Islands are islands of course, and there are three of them. One is a sand covered, sun beaten almost wasteland, another is a lush, humid, rainforest island that is very profitable, but filled with dangerous animals never seen any where else in the world. The third is a mountainous region that is the coldest place in the world. Smaller mountains surround of huge mountain that soars above the sea almost like a huge leaping wolf. It resides in the center of the mountain and is named 'Ilio Hae after the mountain tribes wolf god (See religion in Culture, Social Customs and Family Structures). There is also an important river that runs through the middle of the Rain forest island that carries the Rainforest's Tribe out of the island safely.

B. What natural resources, if any, are available? How will they be used?
  • The Mountain tribe has metal as a natural resource. They use it to make hunting tools, pikes, and other things made with metal. They can also mine precious stones such as the diamond and ruby. The Rainforest tribe has wood as a natural resource. The rainforest gives them wood, and because of the favorable comditions grows right back from the stump, giving the Rainforest tribe endless wood stock. The Desert Tribe's natural rescourse is suprisingly water. even though there is not much of it, it keeps the frail healthy and the old young. It is almost like water from the fountain of youth.

C. Is the climate suitable for agriculture? If so, what crops will be cultivated? Please make reference to population statistics for feasibility calculation.
  • The Rainforest island is most suitable for crops. Many fruits and vegitables are able to grow. cucumber, lettuce, carrot, tomatoe, asparagus, and any other vegitable that you can think of. and fuit trees and bushes surround the edges of the valey and dot the vicenity of it. The Rainforest tribe is the most prosperous tribe with crops. The Desert tribe has a hard time with crops, but they manage in the shade of the valley. They can pant roots and some leafy plants, but most fruits and berries they cannot plant. The Mountain Tribe has the hardest time making crops. Almost all year there is freezing temperatures and the one season when there is enough warmth and less snow, they can only grow roots. Mostly the Mountain tribe grows food crystals. If you plants a crystal with a carrot, it will taste like a carrot, and if you plant a crystal with a blueberry it tastes like a blueberry. They get by, but it isn't quite what an actual carrot or blueberry is.
D. How are jobs determined? What percentage of the workforce is dedicated to the survival and growth of the Utopia?
  • Jobs are determined by the current workers of that job. If the child is good enough to advance into training for the job, they are sent a letter that tells them which job they get trained for through the next 3-4 years. If the student just isn't good at the job he/she is trained in their secondary volunteer job.
E. Is this Utopia notable for any particular crop (e.g. silk, kiwi fruit) or industry (e.g. postage stamps, fine furniture)?
  • No one from outside of the islands knows about these islands. So their crops and industry are only known to the three islands. Also, things are not bought, and there is no such thing as money. There is only trading which takes place at the Meeting every year. The Mountain tribe is noted for their food crystals, which are edible, tasty, and strangley soft crystals that grow on the Mountain Island and never perish or go bad. They are also noted for their healing crystals, that if eaten, can cure most ilnesses. The Rainforest tribe is notable for its amazing and exotic fruits, not found anywhere else in the world. The desert tribe is noted for their energy giving Sand Worm milk. A candy-sweet taste in the milk acts like an energy drink, pepping up whoever drinks it.

F. What, if anything, is imported? From whom? What, if anything, is exported? To whom?
  • Things are imported unless needed for emergencies. Mostly, the goods are traded at the meeting. Things such as healing crystals, food crystals, and spice crystals are traded to the two other islands. They also trade things such as steel and copper, which are forged from the things mined from the mountains. Those goods are compensated by Sand Worm milk, ground Sand Trout scales (clears the mind when mixed with a liquid and consumed), and incences. They also trade wool and textiles from their large flock of livestock. The Rainforest tribe trades fruits, vegetables, flower seeds, wood, straw, juice of the Pou Pou flower which clears the mind and heals wounds when rubbed on the injured spot. Many medicines are found in their lush jungle. Everything is traded in fair amounts, which keeps everybody equal.
