I think that the idea of mathematics in utopia got in the way because you cant re-wire a persons brain. If you are born in a utopia were everyone enjoys mathematics the utopia will work but if you have a child the child may not like math like D-503 you will create mass havoc. When you put mathematics into a society or anything for that matter you have to make sure that everyone likes math or anything like that. The idea of utopia is just like a giant animal tree. At the top level everything is related but as you go farther and farther down there are less people and more categories. If an animal or any thing is put in the wrong category it will make everything in that place corrupt.

The focus on logic and mathematics was one of the main reasons for the destruction of the INTEGRAL. Everybody in the INTEGRAL has to believe the same thing in order for the society to work. Since mathematics and logic are so straight forward, it is hard for everybody to think the same thing. Once one person stops believing that, it is easy for the society to fall. If the society was based off of something that is hard to not have, then it would be harder to destroy, but since it isn't, then it is easy to destroy.

The just all around obsession of logic and perfect led to people becoming almost slaves. The society almost got overloaded with the obsession with logic. If it was not logic, it did not exist, such as freedom. And an imagination and soul. The fact, at least to them, is that a soul is not logical, therefore it should hated and they want to remove it, in a way. With the operations to totally wipe out imagination to remake the human machine, they also were showing that any thoughts that are not permitted, will be called evil. The difference in thought led to the utopia getting out of control. Therefore, obviously, lack of control is not perfection.
