firegirl210 I think that once this particular Utopia has been corrupted, it will not be able to be made back into the Utopia. The Machines are being destroyed and the 'Reeks' and "Wrecks' have pretty much taken over. The Rebellion changed the way that people see the machines, and I think that the people who were in charge will have a hard time changing it back to normal.

I don't think mine can. It is corrupted at the start of the book, but Montag had to discover this on his own. Once the society had finally been pulled down, all of the scholars would not allow books to perish once again. They would fight to change it. ~firebirdmusic101

I think that once corrupted that the utopia can rebuild it self... eventually.

It could be corrupted by too many people coming to know about the garden and not listen to Master Colin or Mistress Mary since they basically run the garden. It could possibly be made back into a utopia if they lock the garden back up, fire the old servants (the ones that corrupted the garden) and hire new ones.

I don't think that it could be repaired quickly. The utopia that they had lived in was in ruins, so it was going to almost be impossible to repair.

I think so but it would have to lake some strong government action in order to correct things. But the amout of correction would take years and it would be much simpler.

I disagree with frostbittentomato because once a utopia is corrupted people will know how to corrupt it once more. In the Giver people are like robot people. They did their job and slept. They had no feelings and past memories. If some one corrupted people would not know how to rebuild it. They have to start from scratch and a new generation.

In The Giver after the utopia was corrupted it would be impossible to rebuild itself. the citizens are being genetically engineered, the people in the giver have very simple feeling and can not see in color. Because the people had very simple feelings, they couldn't handle the complex feelings of the memories which were released when Jonas escaped. This caused the citizens to freak, but also realize that half of life joys had been hidden from them. I am sure that the citizens after this realization, would be disgusted in the idea of going back to genetically engineering humans. After corrupted this utopia would be brought to it's knees while the citizens would be brought to there feet.

Lord of the Flies. I think that it would be impossible to change the corrupted community back into a Utopia. Unless a miracle comes, I think that the change of heart will be very unlikely.

Since in the book We it was corrupted and was in a 200 year war i do not think that they could come back as a utopia. The society of We is built up upon the idea that every person is categorized by numbers and letters so it allows for people to live in harmony and trade in harmony. The integral is just like the internet when a place gets a bad wrap not very many people will go there and the people who stay will internally corrupt the society. When a site on the internet doesnt have any reason to stay and it still costs money for the people to keep it alive the site will be shut down.

I think that it is possible, but the utopia will not be the same. If something is corrupt, and then fixed, it never goes away. It will probably stay in your life for the rest of your life. In the giver, if the society was corrupted, it would be impossible to rebuild itself into what it was before. The great mistake in the book kept fear in their hearts for a very long time.

I don't think so because first of all in Lord of the Flies it is a dystopia. Then Jack decides to create a utopia but corruption and creation have been done throughout this book so I don't think anything super dramatic, or even minorly dramatic for that matter.

It could, but most likely not. Once a utopia is corrupted, it is really hard to get it back to normal if you let it get corrupted to a certain point. Like Heaven 12321 says, it will probably stay in your life forever and won't go away. And, once it is discovered that a utopia is possible to corrupt, there is a really good chance that it will happen again, and people who don't like the utopia (other utopias/civilizations) will try to corrupt it.

Yes, because the people are just sort of bred to be unaware of the happiness. It wasn't clear on how the people got intolerant of illogical stuff. So, they might be able to, depending if they could repair the green wall and how they make the people obsessed with logic.
