The first thing to start thinking about is that there is a congressional break coming up in mid-April. We have just completed a "'211 on the Hill" day and made over 70 legislative contacts. This coming April is going to be "211 off the Hill" and we will be asking everyone to meet with your representatives, maybe invite as many of them as possible to your agencies, and tell them the story of 2-1-1.

This is the time when members and their staff will be actively working in the home districts – an ideal time to schedule a site visit and educate them about the importance of supporting 2-1-1.

The Congressional calendar shows District Work Periods scheduled for the following dates:

• April 6-17
• May 25-29
• June 29 – July 3
• Aug.3 – Sept. 7 (House)
• Aug. 10 – Sept. 7 (Senate)

Please make every effort to schedule site visits for members of Congress and their staff during the April recess. The UWA Public Policy team needs all of us to do our part to support passage of the Calling for 2-1-1 Act in the next several months. Now is the time to work this like we’ve never worked it before.
